The third stage of the Tour of Sardinia had a different outcome than expected, with a breakaway of 22 riders that included world champion Allesandro Ballan (Lampre), Daniele Bennati (Liquigas) and eventual race winner Oscar Gatto of ISD.
This is the first win for the ISD team and Gatto’s first win as a professional.

Team rosters have been announced for the Tour of Sardinia (Giro di Sardegna). The race will include 15 teams, including 3 from the Pro Tour.
The field is largely Italian and is led by world champion Alessandro Ballan (Lampre), Danilo Di Luca (LPR) and Italian champion Filippo Simeoni (Flaminia). Watch for a showdown between sprinters Alessandro Petacchi (LPR) and Daniele Bennati (Liquigas).
