Amaël Moinard (Cofidis) took a surprise stage victory over breakaway companion Thomas Voeckler (Bbox Bouygues Telecom) and Alberto Contador (Astana) secured his second overall Paris-Nice victory.
Linus Gerdemann (Milram) won the first stage of Tirreno-Adriatico, outsprinting Pablo Lastras (Caisse d’Epargne) and Matti Breschel (Saxo Bank) to claim victory. With the time bonus he takes a six second advantage over Lastras in the GC.
