2006 Tour de France Osrcar Pereiro, who recently announced that he would be racing at the Tour Down Under, has confirmed for the Giro d’Italiia as well.
Caisse d’Eparge teammates Joaquim Rodriguez and David Arroyo have confirmed, but team leader Alejandro Valverde will skip the race to focus on the Tour de France.

Today’s stage is relatively short, just a little over 145 km from Las Rozas to Segovia. The route is nicely split with the day’s two category 1 climbs coming at km 45 and km 89 (the Puerto de Navacerrada and the Puerto de Navafria, respectively). From there, it’s basically downhill into Segovia, where there is a bit of an uphill finish. We’ll see how this affects the sprinters at the end of the race.

Defending champ Danilo di Luca (LPR Brakes) will be there, along with Contador (Astana, 2007 TdF winner), Denis Menchov (Rabobank, 2007 Vuelta winner), Paolo Bettini (Quickstep, 2007 World Champion), and former Giro winners Paolo Salvoldelli (LPR) and Gilberto Simoni (Diquigiovanni-Androni).
