Lance Armstrong wines and dines, Alberto Contador just whines – Post Tour de France news and notes

2010 looks like it is going to shape up to be a very interesting year. The gloves are off and the battle between Alberto Contador and Lance Armstrong is ON. By now, of course we know that Lance Armstrong is heading to the new Radio Shack Cycling team, while Contador is headed to parts unknown. All we know for sure is that they will both be at the 2010 Tour and it’ll be “no more mister nice guy.”

The big question mark on this one is Tom Boonen. Will he be there? I think so. Given other riders and teams that have been included, the ASO doesn’t have aleg to stand on.

Here are just some of the latest cyclists to hit the disabled list:

Robbie McEwen was part of the finish line crash at Wednesday’s Scheldeprijs. He had a hard fall, but reported that “My ribs, collarbone and pelvis are intact. There is nothing broken and that is a relief.” He did get a slight concussion, but will try to ride today.
Tom Boonen was in the same pileup. There was some concern as he was not able to put weight on one of his feet. His wrist was in pain as well. …
