South Africa’s Robert Hunter won the first stage of the Tour of Murcia in south-eastern Spain on Wednesday, with seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong finishing in the leading pack.
Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre – Farnese Vini) took the finish sprint ahead of Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia) and Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas – Doimo) to create the second all Italian podium in three days.
Gert Steegmans and Tomas Vaitkus will race in the opening weekend’s races of the Belgian cycling season. Their participation was questionable after crashes in the third and first stages of last week’s Tour of Algarve.
Radio Shack is one of the 25 teams expected to participate in the event. The team also received an invitation to Tirreno-Adriatico, a race often seen as preparation for Milan-San Remo.

Final team rosters have been announced for the 2010 Santos Tour Down Under. Allan Davis returns to defend his title on his new Astana team, but many eyes will also be on the Pro Tour debut of Lance Armstrong’s Radio Shack Cycling Team as well as British powerhouse Team Sky.
