The third stage of the Tour of Sardinia had a different outcome than expected, with a breakaway of 22 riders that included world champion Allesandro Ballan (Lampre), Daniele Bennati (Liquigas) and eventual race winner Oscar Gatto of ISD.
This is the first win for the ISD team and Gatto’s first win as a professional.
