2010 Giro di Sardegna: Stage 3 Results

Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre – Farnese Vini) took the finish sprint ahead of Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia) and Jacopo Guarnieri (Liquigas – Doimo) to create the second all Italian podium in three days.

Philippe Gilbert (Silence-Lotto) won Italy’s Coppa Sabatini Thursday, outsprinting ISD’s Giovanni Visconti and Leonardo Bertagnoli (Diquigiovani) after joining a large and successful 24-man break earlier in the 199km race.

Frenchman David Le Lay (Agritubel) won the second stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe on Wednesday. Slightly less than one third of the way through the 93.8 kilometer stage from Ancenis to Angers, Le Lay made a successful break from the pack and  finished in front by 27 seconds.
Greg Henderson (Team Columbia – Highroad) from New Zeland won the sprint for second place and Italian Alberto Loddo (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli) was third. First stage winner Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia-Bossoni Docce) of Italy suffered a fall and finished 27 seconds …

Enrico Rossi (Ceramica Flaminia – Bossini Docce) seized control of the first stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe, successfully forcing a breakaway at the 35 kilometer mark following several earlier attacks. The Italian escaped with Martin Kohler (BMC) and Kévin Ista (Agritubel) ahead of the day’s first sprint in Bois-de-Cené and led the way throughout the 191.9 kilometer stage from Noirmoutier-en-I’Ile to Ancenis.
