Riders from Belgium, France, Italy and Switzerland are among the six joining the BMC Racing Team

The start order and times for the Stage 1 Team Time Trial at the Vuelta a Espana have been announced

Team Type 1 has announced the first of several new rider signings as it pursues pro continental status for the 2011 season.

Giuseppe Saronni, sport director of the Lampre-Farnese Vini team has chosen the 9 cyclists that will represent the team in the Vuelta a Espana.

Team Lampre and Wilier Triestina are together again: one of the most prolific and long relationships in the professional cycling world has been renewed.

Now that the merger between Lampre and ISD has been worked out, some of the details start to emerge, notably, a partnership with the Mapei training center.

152 riders took to the start of today’s 214.4km stage from St-Lievens-Houtem in Belgium to Roermond in the Netherlands.  Though today’s was the longest stage of the Tour, Jaroslaw Marycz (Saxo Bank) decided it was a good day to try to attack his way to victory, launching his first of numerous moves 7kms in.  13kms later, in the peloton, Christian Knees (Milram) crashed into a stop sign and had to abandon the race to go to a local hospital for stitches.

Today’s stage was a 204km route from Roermond to Sittard.  Markus Eichler (Milram),  Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil) and Robert Hunter (Garmin-Transitions) all did not start the stage while Jurgen Van De Walle (QuickStep) and Juan Mauricio Soler (Caisse d’Epargne) abandoned during the stage.
