Daniel Martin (Garmin-Transitions) is the new king of Poland.

Dan Martin of the Garmin-Transitions team successfully defended his lead in the 2010 Tour de Pologne.

Team Saxo Bank newcomer Richie Porte delivered an amazing performance on the 23.4 kilometer long time trial in Tour de Romandie by winning the stage ahead of specialists Alejandro Valverde, Michael Rogers and Vladimir Karpets.

Luis Leon Sanchez (Caisse d’Epargne) celebrated his start-to-finish overall win, while Anthony Ravard (AG2R) won his second stage to close out the race on Friday.

Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis, Le Credit En Ligne) won Thursday’s third stage while Luis Leon Sanchez (Caisse d’Epargne) remains atop the GC.

Anthony Ravard (Ag2r- La Mondiale) won the morning’s short stage and Tiago Machado (RadioShack) took the afternoon time trial.

Armstrong came down with a viral intestinal infection after the conclusion of Stage 1. He will return to the US as soon as his condition allows.

Russel Downing (Team Sky) won the morning stage ahead of Michael Albasini (HTC-Columbia) and stage one winner Pierrick Fédrigo (BBox Bouyges Telecom). In the afternoon, David Millar (Garmin-Transitions) took the TT, with Fédrigo riding well enough to claim the overall victory.

While all the talk was about Alberto and Lance, Pierrick Fedrigo (Bbox Bouygues Telecom) took the opening stage by 11 seconds.

Alberto Contador wraps up the overall in the 2010 Volta ao Algarve by finishing second in Sunday’s individual time trial.
