Registration opens for Fixed Gear Classic

Registration is now open for the Minnesota Fixed Gear Classic, a thrilling three days of track racing at the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, Minn., that leads off the Nature Valley Bicycle Festival.

The Palter Company, Inc., which also owns the Cycle Loft in Burlington, MA, will operate the Northeast Velodrome & Cycling Park in Londonderry NH for the 2010 Cycling Season.

Nature Valley to Sponsor 2010 Bicycle Festival

After sponsoring the Nature Valley Grand Prix pro stage race for ten years, they will expand their involvement to sponsor the overall Minnesota Bike Festival in 2010.

The first edition of the Six Days of Cremona will take place from February 6 to 11 in Cremona Fiere and tickets are on sale now.

This is the first year that I’ve really been following six day racing, and I finally decided to find out a little behind the history of this unique sub set of our sport.
Six day racing goes back all the way to 1878, when a professional named David Stanton sought a bet that he could ride 1,000 miles in six successive days, riding 18 hours a day.
