BRUSSELS (AP) — A Belgian court dropped criminal charges Tuesday against former world cycling champion Tom Boonen for alleged cocaine use.
The court, in northwestern Turnhout, said Boonen had “been punished enough” after his positive test for cocaine in an out-of-competition doping control kept him out of last year’s Tour de France.
“Tom has been punished in public and financially. We hope it has been a lesson for him,” said Boonen’s Quick-Step team leader, Patrick Lefevere.

If you’ve been following the case of the Sydney driver that slammed on his brakes in front of a group of 60 cyclists, you’ll be happy to know that he was found guilty and received a fine. You’ll not be happy to know that the fine was only AU$1200. Yes, that works out to $20 per cyclist.
