Pre-registration numbers surpass Portland show

A President’s Day for all, Stage 2 of the Amgen Tour of California departed Sausalito in cold and soggy conditions with a picturesque 115.9-mile route to Santa Cruz that included a pair of Herbalife Sprints and two challenging California Travel & Tourism King of the Mountains climbs.

The Milan Bicycle Festival will run from November 26 to 30 and will celebrate the pride of cycling through music, film and art.
The Festival will include musical evenings, art exhibitions, street events, bike polo, urban races and cyclocross races. The festival will culminate with a dance party to be held in a large parking garage that will also feature a ring for indoor cycling.

USA Cycling sent out a news update today. You can view the full article here, but I have a few highlights.

34 road and mountain bike athletes recently attended USAC’s talent identification program
USAC saw a 2.7% growth in memberships this year.
The 2009 National Racing Calendar will have 34 races and more than $1.3 million in overall prize payouts.
The 2009 American Mountain Bike Challenge series has been announced as well. This series gives riders of all abilities to a chance to compete at a top level right in their own backyard.
