US-based rim manufacturer Velocity USA is proud to introduce a new rim offering geared toward the burgeoning road disc market. The Aileron, set to debut at Frostbike 2014, is the first disc-specific road rim offered by Velocity.
Key features of the Aileron include:
- A 28mm tall, disc-specific elliptical profile designed with aerodynamics and weight as key factors.
- Specifically tuned to be aerodynamically paired with 23 to 28c road tires.
- 25mm outer & 20mm inner widths compliment even the most voluminous gravel and cross tires.
- Tubeless ready using 24mm Velotape
- 480 grams

The Aileron is available in Black or Polished finishes, 24, 28, 32 hole drillings with an MSRP of $126.99. The Aileron will also be available as a complete wheelset, in Pro and Comp configurations, hand-built by The Wheel Department in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Pro and Comp wheelsets use 24 Sapim CX-Ray or DT Swiss Competition spokes front and rear with Velocity’s new Convertible Disc rear hub for universal 11 speed compatibility, and Lightweight Disc or Convertible Disc front hub.
Aileron rims are manufactured in Jacksonville, Fla. at the Velocity factory. Velocity USA and The Wheel Department are headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich.
