Gates Carbon Drive will pair their new Carbon Drive Red Belts with Rohloff Hubs and bikes from REEB and Connor Wood Cycles at next weekend’s North American Handmade Bicycle Show.
Gates’ chain-free, derailleur-free, grease-free drive train is increasingly common on custom touring, fat and adventure road bikes. REEB Cycles master builder Chris “SoulTrain” Sulfrian has brewed up the following titanium and steel rigs for the show–all featuring Carbon Drive Red belts and Rohloff hubs:
- Donkadonk titanium fat bike
- Sam’s Pants commuter
- Gravel grinder/cyclocross blaster
Other bikes in the Gates booth will include a full suspension Black Sheep with belt drive and Rohloff hub, an Independent Fabrications geared hub adventure road bike as well as REEB’s Dikyelous MTB and Destroyer dirt jumper.
Also on deck: a wooden baseball bat bike commissioned by the Louisville Slugger company that is sure to be a home run with baseball fans. Made from the same white ash used to create bats, the Slugger bike created by Connor Wood Cycles will go on display at the Louisville Slugger museum at the conclusion of NAHBS.
Several notable belt drive eBikes will also be at the show from custom maker Fifield Electric Bikes, and from Ti Cycles which has created a titanium eBike that pairs Gates Carbon Drive with the Shimano STEPS system.
