Rudy Project has a new helmet on offer that looks to improve performance, without much pain to your wallet. The Rush blends features from other Rudy Project helmets to make what they say is a well made, comfortable helmet with great looks.
“This helmet represents an amalgamation of our best design assets at a very attractive price,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-founder of Rudy Project North America. “Our Italian design team worked with many top athletes to incorporate critical feedback, and the result speaks for itself. The Rush is fast, cool, lightweight, and looks outstanding. Above all, it’s comfortable and offers superb protection, and that’s the most important thing: ensuring athletes *want* to wear their helmet. That’s what saves lives.”
The Rush uses direct In-Mold™ technology to create a strong, yet light helmet. The helmet is crown-cast with a single piece of polystyrene, which makes for a strong helmet, but only weighs 230 grams. Inside, the helmet utilizes high coverage internal padding, made from a new fabric that offers superior comfort and fit, along with great sweat wicking characteristics. Ventilation is handled by the 21 vents, allowing plenty of air to get to your head and keep you cool.
The fit system will be very familiar to Rudy Project helmet owners. The RSR 7 disc retention system, used on the higher end models like the Sterling road helmet and Wingspan aero helmet, allows for easy, one-handed adjusting to get the perfect fit. Also, the adjustable comfort head ring raises or lowers the RSR 7 disc retention system on the back of your head to find the perfect spot for comfort and stability. The Rush comes with multiple internal pads to help customize the fit further. Rudy Project also utilizes their Fastex™ System from all other helmets to make the chin buckle to easy to fasten and remain securely locked together.
The design looks to take cues from helmets like the Windmax, Sterling, and Airstorm helmets, while adding some of it’s own unique flare. The Rush is also offered in “technically cool” colors to match your bike or favorite team kit. Currently, the adult helmets are offered in white/black/silver and black/white, and a more vibrant Azur-Lime Fluo Shiny should be available soon. Youth sizes have the white and Azur-Lime colors to choose from. I expect that we’ll see more Fluo colors available in the future. The Rush also comes with a detachable visor that can be used to help block the sun.
