If you ride a full suspension bike or a smaller frame, you’ve undoubtedly run into an issue with carrying water bottles. Traditional top load bottle cages won’t always work in a cramped triangle, and Blackburn has a solution with their new Wayside side entry cage.
For both consumers and shop owners, the great thing about the Wayside is that it works for both left and right entry. There are essentially four pieces to the Wayside, the cage, the mounting plate, and the two bolts. Instead of having to remember to buy a left and a right so bottles can be dropped in on the same side (I’ve already messed this up), or shop owners having to worry about stocking different sku’s for each side, you just change the direction of the cage before you bolt it on. Installation is as simple as orienting the cage in the right direction, lining it up on the plate, and bolting it on.
Blackburn made the Wayside with the standard 65mm spacing for the bolts with no verticle adjustment. Claimed weight is 45 grams, so it is a few hairs lighter than some of the other reversible cages out there. Only the non-reversible carbon cages beat it out in weight. At $19.99, it’s not going to break the bank either.
The Wayside is available in five colors, black, white, red, orange, and hi-vis yellow.
