With Independence Day coming soon here in the United States, Louis Garneau looks to celebrate the occasion with a limited release “Made In The USA” kit. Online ordering is open on their website until 11:59 on Friday July 8th.
The kit has a vintage look with stars and stripes patterns on the arms and bibs. The jersey is a collage of different parts of American history, with images of Abraham Lincoln, Mount Rushmore, the moon landing, Rosie the Riveter, and the first Captain America comic, among many others. If this jersey doesn’t make you want to stand up and salute the flag, I’m not sure what else will.
On the bibs, the faded look continues on with a solid worn navy panel on one side, and graphics on the other. An American flag is across the back.
While the print is fun, this is a serious cycling kit after all, so here’s some additional details on what you are getting.
The jersey is actually Louis Garneau‘s Equip jersey. It checks off all of the features you’d want for a summer jersey like a full-length zipper in front, Airfit Mesh panels on the side for breathability and moisture control, and the brand’s Diamond fabric for the rest of the body. The diamond-shaped construction keeps it light and stretchy, while still offering excellent ventilation and moisture-wicking for a solid fabric. An elastic hem helps keep everything in place. Separate men’s and women‘s cuts are offered.
For the bibs, you get the Power Bib with the Motion Airgel chamois. This 10-panel bib short features a seamless inner leg, flat lock stitching, and Power Band at the end of the leg to keep the bibs in place. Additionally, the lower back panel is lined to help prevent the dreaded “moon roof” effect. To add to the pro feel, there is a radio pocket on the back of the mesh bib straps. While men get the bibs, the only bottoms offered for women are shorts. The design is similar to the bibs, minus the straps.
Unfortunately though, you’ll have to wait for until next Independence Day to sport this kit with a pair of Handup Gloves’ Merican Gloves, the ultimate in patriotic cycling. With taking orders until July 8th, Louis Garneau expects to have these shipping the first week of August.
