Since its inception in the Rocky Mountains, Phunkshun Wear has protected the top names in winter sports from harmful UV rays and harsh conditions. In order to stay fit in the off-season, Phunkshun Wear is shifting its attention to the summer market with a bike-specific line of sun and sweat protection, as well as warming products for the cooler months.
Consisting of eight styles, the bike collection features the Neck Tube ($19.99), Ballerclava® ($29.99), Narrow Headband ($19.99), Fatty Headband ($19.99), Solar Arm Sleeve ($34.99), Polar Arm Sleeve ($34.99), Solar Knee Sleeve ($34.99) and Polar Knee Sleeve ($34.99). All products are hand-sewn in Denver using materials manufactured in the U.S.
As a brand constantly striving to minimize its carbon footprint, Phunkshun Wear will proudly incorporate REPREVE recycled fiber in all neck tubes, balaclavas, headbands and arm/knee sleeves featured in the bike collection. By using REPREVE, each individual Phunkshun Wear bike product will save between nine to 12 bottles from landfills.
“Utilizing the REPREVE fabric isn’t just a green initiative, it’s a step closer to overall sustainability,” said Phunkshun Wear CEO, Jason Badgley. “Our staff is excited that we’re using recycled fibers in our products and we’re already seeing a positive response from retailers both domestically and internationally.”
Due to the brand’s environmental initiatives, Phunkshun Wear has been recognized with a certificate by Certifiably Green Denver. This prestigious green certification comes from recycling scrap material, producing zero wastewater and repurposing old manufacturing consumables. In addition, Phunkshun Wear’s offices, warehouse and manufacturing are 100% wind powered and staff members are rewarded for using alternative methods of transportation. In 2016, Phunkshun Wear earned its Silver Level fellowship from the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP).
