Tifosi has been on the move this year, launching a bunch of new sunglasses, including the performance-oriented Rail and lifestyle-focused Swank XL (review coming soon). Next up is a sunglass that bridges the gap between the two categories, the Sizzle. The new model features plenty of coverage for cycling and running, but plenty of style for use off the bike.
The Sizzle blends a large, single shield polycarbonate lens with a Grilamid TR-90 frame to make a sunglass that will work for active or casual wear. The Rail, for example, is great on the road for cycling and running, but the Swank XL would be my choice for a weekend at the beach. The Sizzle finds that balance to handle it all.

“We recognize that our customers take full advantage of summer weather. This could mean a bike ride in the morning followed by an afternoon barbecue,” offered Tifosi Optics CEO, Joe Earley. “The Sizzle is meant to be a lightweight, all-day eyewear companion that can provide protection for active pursuits, yet blends in when it’s time to relax with friends and family,” Earley continued.

The frame has a more traditional shape, in some ways similar to the Swank XL and the Swick. The frame has a nose bridge behind the lens you’d expect on a dual-lens model, but is hidden behind the shield lens. The nosepiece also includes hydrophilic nose pads to keep them comfortable and in place. The lens dimensions are close to the Swank XL at 43.3mm tall and 123.2mm wide.

Temples are also a blend with the length and curve around the ears being a blend of the two frames. The temples also feature Tifosi Glide, a treatment that helps them slide comfortably in place, but stay put during your activity.
Retailing at $34.95, the Sizzle is offered in 4 colors, Blackout with a smoke lens, Satin Vaypor with smoke red mirror, Frost Blue with smoke yellow mirror, and Teal Dune with gold mirror. It’s also available from the Tifosi Custom Lab, which allows you to mix and match temple colors, along with your choice of lens for an additional $5.

We’ll have a sample coming in soon and will include it in our sunglass round-up we are currently working through. Keep an eye on additional reviews coming soon.
