Team AMANI and helmet and sunglass sponsor, POC, just released a collection of products to support increased access to cycling and racing in East Africa, and bring their riders to the international stage. The colorways of the Ventral Air MIPS AMANI Edition and Aspire AMANI Editions were designed by riders from Team AMANI. All proceeds go to Team AMANI, which has partnered with POC since 2019.
The team recently lost their team captain, Sule Kangangi, who was a big part of the design process. The team and partners decided to continue with the launch of the collection in his honor and a way to show continued support for the project.
Mikel Delagrange, Team AMANI manager, said:
Our AMANI team helmets and eyewear are very special and represent much more than performance or protection. Along with the team, Sule was at the heart of the design which was created to give the team a consistency and still offer each rider a uniqueness and ability to fly their national flag. We have been racing in them for some time and take great pride in what they stand for. And now, on top of that, they are a connection to Sule that we want to share with everyone as we know he would be overjoyed seeing our team supported and our helmets and eyewear ridden all around the globe.”

The team has already been riding the new collection that adds unique colors to POC’s existing products. The range of colors comes from the uniqueness of the team and its riders. Each rider selected the main color of the shell, while the orange details tie them together as Team AMANI. Each helmet comes with additional decals of the flags of Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, representing the riders on the team, but also US and Australian flags for team manager Mikel Delagrange and longtime supporter, Lachlan Morton.
For the Aspire sunglasses, riders had the same option to choose the frame color that works for them, while the ends of the temples are all orange to bring the team together.
Jonas Sjögren, CEO, POC added:
“We are incredibly proud to support Team AMANI. They epitomize a spirit and approach to cycling that we should all embrace. We know that not all kilometers are equal, but opportunity should be, and we can all play a part in trying to level the playing field. The recent tragic events have knocked us all backwards, and it is incredibly hard for everyone involved, but Sule would tell us that our work breaking down the barriers, supporting the team and raising awareness for the project is only just beginning and we should not stop. And we won’t.”
