21-year-old Andrea Bagioli was in the thick of the action at the 2021 Drôme Classic and punched clear with five kilometers to go, opening a gap on the last climb of the race which he extended on the downhill and then carried all the way to the finish line in Eurre.
Davide Ballerini netted Deceuninck – Quick-Step’s fourth Omloop Het Nieuwsblad win after the race came down to a bunch sprint, something that had last happened more than a decade ago.
Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) took his revenge as he managed to beat double stage winner Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick Step) on the final stage of the 2021 UAE Tour while Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious), a former stage winner at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater, rounded out the podium.
