Samuel Dumoulin said: “Obviously, this is a good result on the 2nd most important French one-day race ! I’m a little bit disappointed by my sprint because victory was close. I’d prepared well this event and I was in a very good shape. I have felt pretty good throughout the day and the team worked well and applied the instructions. I was in the way of Pozzato when I pulled out but he overtook me in last meters. It would have been needed a perfect timing to win today, but this 3rd rank is a great performance on this high level race.”
Gilles Mas, sports director of the AG2R LA MONDIALE Team, said: “I’m very satisfied with the team’s performance today. The roles of each have been well-defined before to start. Samuel Dumoulin was the only rider protected in case of a sprint finish and we also decided to protect Romain Bardet if there were some attacks. They have all played their part and we saw a fine collective work from the whole AG2R LA MONDIALE Team. The Grand Prix of Plouay is always an uncertain race, not easy to manage, and it comes down to tiny details.”
