2013 Vuelta a Espana: Chris Anker Sørensen enjoys the rest day

Today, Team Saxo-Tinkoff and the rest of the field in the Vuelta a Espana have enjoyed a well-deserved rest day after a long transfer following yesterday’s mountain stage. For Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s Chris Anker Sørensen the day has passed quickly:

“We didn’t have dinner until late last night after flying north but we were however able to sleep in today. I did a 50-kilometer recovery ride just to spin the legs around and usually, I have a tendency of feeling sore during the rest day but I have been feeling better than usual. The rest of the day I have spent eating, talking with reporters and massage,” says the Danish climber who’s looking forward to the next stages:

“Tomorrow, I’ll try to stay inside the GC so I can be used as a card later in the race. Of course, I hope that both Nicolas (Roche) and Rafal (Majka) are doing a great time trial so we will retain our spots at the top of the standings. There have been some tough climbs in the course so far and I must confess that I just could not keep up once the strongest finishers eventually put the hammer down but maybe I’ll get my own chance during this weekend’s mountain stages, “concludes Chris Anker Sørensen.

Tomorrow’s time trial is a stretch of 38.8 km where the riders are facing a category 3 climb along the way.
