BMC Racing Team Announces Roster For Canadian WorldTour Races

  • Ron

Fresh off a two stage wins and a runner-up finish overall at the Tour of Alberta, the BMC Racing Team will field a roster full of contenders for two one-day WorldTour races in Canada, Grands Prix Cyclistes Québec and Montréal.

‘Opportunities For Any Situation’
Tour of Alberta stage winner Cadel Evans and overall runner-up Brent Bookwalter will be joined by three riders (Marcus Burghardt, Amaël Moinard and Steve Morabito) who helped the BMC Racing Team win the team classification at that race. Joining them is USA Pro Challenge winner Tejay van Garderen, Greg Van Avermaet – who was runner-up last year in Québec City – and Daniel Oss, who has runner-up finishes on stages of the Giro d’Italia, the Tour of Austria and the Tour de Wallonie. “We have a lot of guys going really well now,” BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Jackson Stewart said. “That means more opportunities for any situation that the race throws our way. It’s nice to know that you have so many guys that can win out of the right situation.” Friday’s race in Québec City is 16 laps of a 12.6-kilometer circuit (201.6 km) while the race in Montréal on Sunday is 17 laps of a 12.1-km circuit (205.7 km). Van Garderen said he has been training hard in Aspen since winning the USA Pro Challenge last month. “I definitely feel motivated for the later part of the season,” he said. “Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated this late in the year so you just ride out the rest of the season. But this year, I’ve been taking it very seriously and staying on track.”
