UCI World Championships Team Time Trial: pre-race comments

The BMC Racing Team’s line-up, President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz and BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Max Sciandri answered questions ahead of Sunday’s UCI world team time trial championship.

Exciting moment for the team.
The six riders who will line-up for the 57.2-kilometer race against the clock are Steve Cummings, Daniel Oss, Taylor Phinney, Manuel Quinziato, Michael Schär and Tejay van Garderen. For President/General Manager, Jim Ochowicz this is an exciting moment for the team. “The Team Time Trial is a team event during the world championships. This gives us, as as team, an opportunity to showcase our organization. It is exciting for us since we were always very serious about team time trials during races as the Tour de France, the Giro or anywhere else. This is a highlight in our season”, Ochowicz said. “Last year we were very close, this year we don’t want to be close but we want to stand on the top.” Tejay van Garderen, who returns from the squad that came up three seconds short of the winning time by Omega Pharma-Quick Step last year, says staying calm will be the key factor. “It will be all about staying calm, staying calm on the climb and staying calm in the corners. Because when you get too nervous that’s the moment when things can go wrong”, van Garderen said.
