Bianchi signed as new title sponsor of Gran Fondo Internazionale Felice Gimondi (now Granfondo Bianchi – Gimondi) whose 18th edition comes back on May 4th 2014 in Bergamo (Northern Italy), after an off-year due to force majeure. Bianchi strengthens its association with Felice Gimondi, one of the most representative champions in the legendary Bianchi hall of fame, to bring the Granfondo Bianchi – Gimondi to the next level.

We jumped on the opportunity – Bianchi CEO  Bob Ippolito said – to build the Bianchi granfondo in our home area of Bergamo. The Granfondo Bianchi – Gimondi is strategic to develop and grow relations with our international and Bergamo area customers and to approach new performance cyclists. We also want to bring the event to a more international level, involving our global partners.

Bianchi will exhibit its complete high-end carbon fleet in the Bike Expo area, including the unique Infinito CV endurance bicycle featuring the exclusive Countervail Vibration Cancelling Technology – the ideal bike for granfondo’s competitors.

THE COURSES
The Granfondo Bianchi – Gimondi is one of the most challenging granfondo events in Italy, with its suggestive three courses, all featuring start and finish in Bergamo (Via Marzabotto):

  • Corto (89.4 Km,  1400m elevation gain): as the race moves, the riders will face back-to-back climbs to Colle dei Pasta, Colle del Gallo and Selvino (with 33 km to go) on their way;
  • Medio (128.8 km,  2100m elevation gain): it follows the same way of the short course until the riders reach Ambria (km 71), where rather than heading back to Bergamo, they will tackle Costa d’Olda categorized climb and the Forcella di Bura ascent, the final launching pad towards the finish;
  • Longo (162. 1km,  3050m elevation gain): The long route follows the medium one for 111 km, but then it will come the time of the Forcella di Berbenno climb, followed by Costa Valle Imagna, the final peak of the day and the highest point of it all – at an altitude of 1036 mt. The last 28 km present downhill and flat ground up to the finish line.
