Interbike 2014: Velocity introduces new Blunt SS cross-country wheelset

Velocity USA is proud to announce the arrival of our newest lightweight cross-country rim, the Blunt SS, for Interbike 2014. The all-new SS is:

BluntSS profileWider: At 30 mm wide, the Blunt SS (26.6 mm internal) balances the “wider is better” trend and weight for the improved traction and control our riders want, without compromising performance.

Lighter: Despite its increased width, Blunt SS is lighter than the Blunt, and even the Blunt SL, at just 425 g for the 29” model, and 395 g for the 27.5” model.

image006Stronger: The carefully engineered design removes non-critical material to lighten the rim, while adding material at high-stress points to increase strength. The resulting rim is not only lighter, but stronger radially and laterally.

Tubeless-ready: Sidewalls have been shortened and the bead shelf widened to optimize tubeless tire mounting and performance, resulting in greater “burp” resistance at lower pressure.

The Blunt SS will be offered in 29” and 27.5”, 28h or 32h, with a Black anodized finish. Wheelsets, hand-built by Velocity’s in-house staff at The Wheel Department, will start at $789.99 for a Comp build and $1079.99 for a Pro build. Other colors are expected to be available at a later date.

The Blunt SS is manufactured and finished in Jacksonville, Fla., at Velocity USA’s factory using US-made aluminum extrusion.
