The Rápido Pro Pump Head On Kickstarter

If you are tried of using pump heads that require you to flip a lever or screw tight a locking ring, the Rápido Pro Pump Head might be for you.

Rapido 1The Kickstarter Campaign is already a success, but there are still perks waiting to be claimed. The premise of the pump is simplicity and durability. The simplicity side looks to be addressed with single hand use, and a pump head that can be used with Schrader and Presta valve stems. To attach the Rápido Pro Pump Head to the valve stem, you pull the metal ring at the head up, which compresses a spring. Once pushed on to the valve stem, just let go, and push down on the metal piece to make sure it is all the way down. That’s it. From there, just start pumping, and at the end, pull the metal piece at the bottom up, and pull the pump head off of the valve.

As for durability, we can’t say until we have a sample to test out, but it is constructed with durable plastic, corrosion resistant stainless steel, and EPDM rubber for the seal. In pictures, it looks to be pretty solid, so we look forward to testing it out once a sample is available.

Rapido 2Rapido 3The Rápido Pro Pump Head is designed to work with your current pump, but there is also a perk available for a full on floor pump with the Rápido Pro Pump Head. They list that the head is rated to more than 120 lbs, with the pump and head system to 160 lbs. To connect it to your existing pump, remove the old head by disassembling it, or simply cutting the hose down to completely remove the old head. The  Rápido Pro has barbs on the bit that gets inserted into the hose, and helps keep it in. Add on a small hose clamp, and you are ready to go.

The pump head looks like it has a lot of potential, making it quicker and easier to pump up tires, especially when the pressure is on (sorry, it was too easy not to) at a race. One downfall in the design is pumping up disc wheels for time trials and triathlons. You’ll still need a 90 degree adapter, but at least it will be easy to get it in and out of the pump head.

If you are interested in getting in on the pre-orders, check out the Kickstarter campaign before it ends on March 25th, 2015 at 3:13 PM. Currently, the $29 perk is available, which gets you one pump head in your choice of five colors to trick out your pump to match your bike or favorite kit. To get two pump heads, the $49 is still available, with the ability to choose your colors. If you are looking for the full pump with the Rápido Pro Pump Head, you’ll be looking at $69, which is quite reasonable for a quality pump.
