This past Sunday afternoon Team Colavita|Bianchi wrapped up three days of racing at the Intelligentsia Cup Series.  Days one and two were productive for the team, but day 3 was the highlight of the weekend.  Coming off the NCC race Saturday night, the team was anxious for a solid result to close out the weekend.  With being the goal they surly accomplished it, as the team took the top two steps on the podium.  Morgan Brown and Gretchen Stumhofer both found their way into a late break of five riders.  Brown and Stumhofer rode the break to perfection.  Director Sportif Mary Zider added “anytime a team has 2 riders in a small break like that, tactics become very important”.  Tactically Brown and Stomhofer were magnificent as Stumhofer attacked with 2 laps to go and brought along one other rider.  Brown let her teammate get up the road, but waited for her opportunity should Stomhofer be caught.  Instead, Stomhofer attacked again on the last lap, this time getting a sizable advantage by herself.  Brown remained in solid position within her break, and as the finish line approached, Brown exploded to the front of her group, allowing the dynamic duo to finish first and second in the race.

Up next on August 1st the team will head to Littleton, Colorado, for the 11th stop on the National Criterium Calendar.  Saturday’s race in downtown Littleton, CO kicks off at 7:55pm local time. The criterium course winds through the streets of downtown Littleton which promises to be an exciting race venue.  Following Littleton,  the team heads to Utah for the nationally acclaimed  Tour of Utah – Women’s Edition, the 12th stop on the NCC.  The two days of crit racing begin early Monday morning in Logan, Utah and ends on Tuesday morning in Ogden, Utah. Both crits will line up in conjunction with the men’s Tour of Utah, making for a very exciting race atmosphere!

The weekend’s races will be very important for Team Colavita|Bianchi as they look to improve upon their standing in the NCC Team Classification. If you can’t make the race in person, be sure to follow @Teamcolavita for a link to the live stream!
