Kinetic Announces New “Smart” Trainers and Interactive Training System

With an eye on fitness trends, premium trainer brand Kinetic developed three new products for 2016, which it will launch next week at Interbike. The products are the Rock and Roll-Smart, the Road Machine-Smart, and a new interactive web-based training system that the company is developing. Consumers can expect the products to appear in local bike shops and triathlon stores soon after the trade shows.
The “Smart” trainers are Kinetic’s best-in-class precision power trainers with inRide  sensor technology pre-installed for instant power training connectivity. The new interactive training system, which will go live the end of September, will be both a website and smart phone app that provides built-in workouts and training plans, second-screen viewing, streaming video from The Sufferfest, and social connection.
“The best ride experience on a trainer just got better,” declared Kinetic marketing Manager David Simpson. “Together, Kinetic Smart Trainers and our new web-based training system provide a seamless, ‘plug-and-play’ power training solution that’s engaging, entertaining, and productive.Riders of all levels are looking for guidance in their training and now Kinetic will deliver it in a single green package.”

Kinetic’s Rock and Roll-Smart, its flagship trainer, is the only trainer that moves with its rider, allowing cyclists to perform out-of-the-saddle hill climb intervals that replicate actual cycling on the road. The newly integrated inRide sensor wirelessly pairs with iOS and Android devices using Bluetooth Smart technology and will connect to Kinetic’s new web-based training system. MSRP:$569.00.

The Road Machine-Smart, which also has an integrated inRide sensor, offers the smoothest and most realistic fluid-resistance ride available. It is Kinetic’s most popular trainer, due to its quiet operation, quality construction, and progressive resistance. MSRP: $409.00.
As with all Kinetic trainers, the “Smart” trainers have Kinetic’s signature sealed fluid chambers, are power-curve calibrated, and are magnetically coupled via a driveshaft for leak-proof performance. They feature consumer-friendly P.O.P.-style packaging and are fully assembled and ready to go out of the box. The precision and accuracy provided by Kinetic trainers gives riders access to power-based interval training for hundreds of dollars less than comparable equipment.
The new web-based training system, a free application, will be compatible with iOS and Android devices and will be launched in English and German, with Dutch, French, Italian, and Spanish versions to follow. The subscription-based service includes professionally developed training plans, guided workouts, data sharing with StravaTraining Peaks and similar sites, wireless screen mirroring to home entertainment systems, and compatibility with Zwift and TrainerRoad.
Kinetic developed four subscription tiers for its new system:
  • Core, free, provides everything needed to start power training
  • Smart, at $10 per month, provides more training plans, more intelligent analysis, and more sensors to deliver smarter workouts.
  • Smart Pro, at $15 per month, connects riders with unlimited access to online events, head-to-head racing, and team competitions. Smart Pro also allows integration with wearable heart rate and power monitors.
  • Smart Pro + The Sufferfest, at $25 per month, allows users to stream any video from The Sufferfest library and ride a synchronized workout for the most comprehensive power training workout available.
A two-month trial of “Smart” is free with purchase of the Rock and Roll-Smart and the Road Machine-Smart. Current owners of Kinetic trainers and its inRide sensors will receive push notifications to update their inRide apps.
“Kinetic ‘Smart’ Trainers and our web-based training system will deliver the ultimate connected power training experience,” summed up Simpson. “As we head into the classic ‘trainer season’, riders can look forward to an affordable training solution that includes professional coaching, social competition, data analysis, and more. We’ve brought the physical trainer into the digital realm. It’s a completely new offering.”
