Team Colavita|Bianchi wrapped up the 2015 race season in the best fashion possible – the top step on the podium in downtown Boston at the TD Bank Mayors Cup. The Colavita|Bianchi team took control of the race early with aggressive racing and a steady stream of attacks off the front. The result was decimated peloton and a multitude of mid-race primes. Morgan Brown grabbed the biggest mid-race prime – a $500 prize! Inside of 10 laps the racing got serious as the tactics and positioning started to take shape. After a flurry of attacks and counter attacks, which were all closely eyed by the peloton, Emma Grant was able to to slip away while the peloton was catching its collective breath. Grants lead started with a 5 second gap, and grew quickly to a 15 second gap.
Director Sportif, Mary Zider said, ” Emma’s ability to time her get away and hold off the peloton for that many laps in the fastest part of the race, with the winds and difficult course is a true testament to her strength as a bike racer. Her patience and tactical awareness paid off again with another spot on the podium as she did a few weeks ago in Colorado. I was ecstatic with our performance, not only in this race but in the past several weeks. This team was faced with some major adversity, forcing the team to adapted quickly and come up with alternate ways to succeed. This was the best win of the season because every rider was involved and helped contribute to the win at some point in the race. I could not have asked for a better way to end the season…every rider on this team has invested in our team’s motto of ‘Hold The Rope’ since the team camp in January and it’s paid off.”
Making memories in 2015
