Wolf Tooth adds three more elliptical chainring lines

Shimano_110_BCD_elliptical_1_1024x1024Wolf Tooth is now shipping Drop-Stop® Elliptical chainrings for Shimano’s XT M8000, Shimano’s 110 BCD 4-bolt Road/CX, and Race Face’s Cinch Fat Bike Cranks that need a special reverse dish chainring for the correct chainline.

Wolf Tooth’s elliptical chainring offering continues to grow as they design them for the hottest cranksets out there.  The Shimano M8000 group is a game changer with it’s smooth shifting and use of standard 10 speed freehub bodies, the Shimano 110 4-Bolt cranks are the standard in crankset precision and stiffness, and Race Face makes some of the best fat bike cranksets around.

RaceFace reverse dish 1The M8000 and Shimano 110 bolt elliptical rings follow their round chainring brethren with smooth clean lines. The Race Face Reversed Dished (dished out or away from the bike) elliptical chainrings take little more explaining.  They are specifically designed with the optimal chainline, 75mm, for fat bikes that have 190mm rear hub spacing but use cranksets designed around 170mm rear hub spacing. This configuration allows for a narrower or “normal” fat bike q-factor even when running the fattest of tires. While this might sound like a super niche, most popular 190mm rear hub fat bikes are now being designed around this standard including the Trek Farley, Specialized Fat Boys, Pivot Les Fat, and Borealis Bikes to name a few.

Shimano_M8000_elliptical_1024x1024These new elliptical 1x chainrings, like Wolf Tooth’s other round and elliptical rings, are beautifully machined in Minneapolis from hard-wearing 7075-T6 aluminum and take advantage of Wolf Tooth’s patent-pending Drop-Stop® tooth profile for unrivaled chain retention and mud shedding.
