CFR_01SUGOI Performance Apparel today announced its 2016 sponsorship of Cannondale Factory Racing (CFR).  As the Official Technical Apparel Sponsor of CFR, the Canadian brand will provide the Elite World Cup XC team with the very latest advancements in race apparel, made to compete at the world’s most challenging cross country races.

The 2016 ultra-talented CFR team includes World Cup podium staple and former U23 World Champion Manuel Fumic; Olympic bronze medalist Marco Fontana; two-time U23 New Zealand National Champion and reigning U23 World Champion Anton Cooper; and, Brazilian National Champion and PanAm gold medalist, Henrique Avancini.

SUGOI had the unique advantage of working with the athletes to design the 2016 CFR kit.  Working in collaboration with Manuel Fumic and Marco Aurelio Fontana, SUGOI’s design team created the highly innovative and fully-integrated three-piece 2016 CFR Pro Basesuit, Vest and Over Short race system that includes:

  • CFR Basesuit – A breathable, one-piece base layer and lycra mesh short liner, featuring SUGOI’s Formula FXE chamois with pioneering cradle design
  • CFR Pro Over Short – A highly-tailored baggy with high stretch mobility and laser cut ventilation that connects to the basesuit via adjustable suspension loops
  • CFR Pro Vest Jersey – An all-new design crafted of highly technical mesh fabric with magnetized pass-through openings to allow access to Basesuit stow pockets

“Working closely with the riders, SUGOI was able to reinvent the checklist for the ultimate XC kit,“ said Teri Taylor, Director of Product for SUGOI. “When creating apparel as technical as the CFR kit, having the input of the athletes who will be putting it to the test every day and through every race is invaluable.”

“We wanted a race kit that was fast, sporty, technical, tough and stylish, while fitting the needs of the racer and the all-around rider.  The CFR kit does all of this,” said Manuel Fumic.

CFR athletes Cooper and Avancini will race in SUGOI’s Racing Systems Custom apparel, including the RS Jersey and RS Pro Bib Short.

The team will debut their new kits on March 13th in Cape Town, South Africa at Cape Epic, where Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini will take on the world’s most grueling mountain bike stage race.  From there, the team will focus on the global UCI MTB World Cup and UCI MTB World Championships, before shifting focus to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The CFR Race Kit is available now at European independent bike dealers and will be available globally in Spring 2017.
