Mavic announces VW as official partner for Special Service Course

Mavic, a leading manufacturer of bike systems and rider equipment, is proud to announce a partnership with Volkswagen of America, Inc. as the official vehicle sponsor of its 2016 United States Special Service Course (SSC) neutral assistance program.

Since 1973 Mavic’s iconic yellow SSC vehicles have been a staple of cycling events the world over. From fixing flats to providing mechanical assistance and helping however possible, countless riders – professional and amateur alike – have crossed the finish line thanks to help from SSC. In North America that assistance will be made possible thanks to Volkswagen in 2016. The automaker’s contribution of five 2016 VW Golf SportWagens will be a presence at cycling events coast-to-coast all spring, summer and fall.

“Volkswagen’s support of the cycling community runs deep,” said Mike Wilson, Brand Manager, Mavic Americas. “To be the continued beneficiary of their generosity is something we’re both humbled by and excited about. The Golf SportWagen is the perfect vehicle for handling every situation race day can throw at us.”

In addition to providing race support at major U.S. races such as the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, a Mavic Volkswagen expo car will give race spectators a chance to go #InsideTheYellowCar and listen live to race radio, putting spectators in the heat of the action.

The yellow Mavic Volkswagen expo car will be easy to spot in the demo area near the start/finish line of major races throughout the U.S.
