NDVR Cycle Co Seeks Support for Titanium Travel Bike on Kickstarter

NDVR Cycle Co. is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to launch what they are calling, “the world’s finest titanium travel bike.” The bike, with travel case, is airline legal measurements, claims a 5 minute build time, and an all road geometry with unmatched ride quality.

The campaign ends Friday, April 22, 2016, at 11.59, with a target of $20,000. There are twelve levels of support that get you anything from images from their image gallery to clothing to a bike and getaway package. World Bicycle Relief will also benefit from the campaign with a bike donated through the charity for every NDVR cycle purchased.

NDVR 6The bike itself is made from American made 3/2.5 titanium, with size specific tubing depending on the size of the bike and is backed by a lifetime warranty. It utilizes Ritchey’s Breakaway hybrid coupling system to pack down into its proprietary travel case. The brushed finish is matched with laser etched graphics that will remind you where this bike was made.

The bike has an old school/new school approach in many ways too. The bottom bracket is a decidedly old school English threaded 68mm, yet the front end is a 1.125″ to 1.5″ tapered head tube. The rack and fender mounts and clearance for up to 40c tires should make this a very versatile bike.

NDVR 2Speaking of the front end, the NDVR Super Fork, or “Spork”, is a full carbon affair, from the steerer tube down to the thru-axle dropouts. The 45mm rake adds stability on a range of different terrain, and comes in at 467g with a steerer length of 300mm. The front disc brake is a post mount with a recommended rotor size of 160mm.

Out back, the bike features a flat mount rear disc (160mm rotor recommended), thru-axle rear mounting, with spacing for 142mm hubs.

NDVR 5Four levels of drivetrain builds are available, all with electronic shifting. Shimano Ultegra Di2 6870, Dura-Ace Di2 9070, and XTR Di2 9050 1x will utilize shifting ports designed specifically for the shift by wire groups, and is seatpost battery ready. You can also go wireless with SRAM Red eTap. Wheels and tire options provide even more options with road and all road packages.

The ballistic nylon soft shell case continues the US made theme, and holds the entire bike, including wheels. It’s designed with backpack straps, carry handles, and a shoulder strap to provide plenty of options for moving the case around. Inside, there is storage for kit and other accessories. The sides are reinforced and feature multi-density foam and other materials to protect from baggage carriers that might not be too gentle.

If the campaign is successful, a very interesting bike could be brought to market. Prototypes have been built and NDVR’s supply chain has been planned using domestic manufacturing. To learn more and support the campaign, click on the link.
