Security specialist Kryptonite is announcing an expansion of their Anti-Theft Protection Offer, or ATPO, to now include 29 countries worldwide. Started in 1978, this optional protection offer provides a maximum of between $500 (5/10 security rated lock) and $5,000 (10/10 security rated lock) in the event your bike is stolen while locked up with a Kryptonite lock.
Included countries now are:Â
| Austria | Belgium | Bulgaria |
| Canada | Croatia | Denmark |
| Finland | France | Germany |
| Greece | Hungary | Iceland |
| Ireland | Israel | Italy |
| Latvia | Lithuania | Luxembourg |
| Netherlands | Norway | Poland |
| Portugal | Romania | Slovenia |
| Spain | Sweden | Switzerland |
| United Kingdom | United States |

To be eligible, customers will need to register online within 30 days of the purchase of the lock. Once all of the information is provided, you’ll have the chance to select which plan option you would like. For locks with a security rating of 5/10 and 6/10, prices range from $9.99 for the first year to $29.99 for five years. For locks with a rating of 7/10-10/10, the first year is free, and a five year coverage would be $24.99.
In the event that your bike would be stolen, contact police and your insurance company (if applicable), and then contact Kryptonite within seven days of the theft by phone or through their site. When the claim is approved, and depending on the security rating of the lock, Kryptonite will reimburse you up to the base cost of your bike without accessories or the insurance deductible your bike falls under your insurance, or the maximum amount of coverage of the lock’s security rating.
