Leatt is stepping up their levels of protection on the trails with an expanded 2017 cycling line up. Headlining these additions are the DBX All-Mountain and Enduro helmets and their first step into cycling clothing.
The DBX 3.0 comes in two versions, an All-Mountain half shell, and an Enduro version that provides a quick detach chin bar. Each feature 18 vents with a magnetic FidLock bucket, a dial equipped retention system, and an adjustable visor.
What makes these helmets special is the added protection the helmets provide. While many other brands are opting for the MIPS system, Leatt takes a proprietary approach using their 360° Turbine Technology made from 3D moulded Armourgel. The Armourgel material stiffens upon impact, while the turbine shape deforms to absorb vertical and rotational forces in a crash. Leatt says this technology helps to reduce impact at concussion levels by up to 30%, and decreases rotational acceleration by up to 40%. It also helps improve multiple impact protection, something I am happy to see in any helmet, as you can have multiple impacts in a crash.
On the clothing side, Leatt adds jerseys (5.0 All-Mountain long sleeve, 4.0 Ultraweld long sleeve, 3.0 Short short sleeve and 2.0 Short short sleeve), shorts (5.0 DBX, 4.0 DBX, 3.0 DBX), and jackets (5.0 All-Mountain, 4.0 All-Mountain) to their line. The jerseys and jackets can be used with or without a neck brace. Highlight of the line is the 5.0 All-Mountain long sleeve jersey, which features tape-bonded seams, Miharo material, silicone grips at the shorts, and zippered pockets with a microfiber cloth for cleaning lenses. The shorts and jackets are offered soft and hard shell options for added waterproofing.
For accessories, Leatt added some additional lines of gloves that feature Armourgel panels and a Nanogrip palm. The Nanogrip palm provides a breathable and durable grip, without the need for the rubber prints that are typically added for wet weather grip. For backpacks, the Hydration Cargo 3.0 DBX has been added with 10 liters of storage. The bladder pocket holds an additional 3 liters, and a CE Level 2 back protector is included for impact protection. Leatt continued their uniquee chest harness to keep everything in place.
