After placing seventh in Saturday’s final, Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX/Monster Energy) bounced back to earn the bronze medal in Sunday’s final as the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup season opened in Papendal, Netherlands. Fields’ bronze-medal-winning time of 36.616 trailed only winner Joris Daudet (FRA) and Tory Nyhaug (CAN).

Fields and Felicia Stancil (Lake Villa, Ill./GT Bicycles) were the only American riders in Sunday’s finals. Stancil finished seventh in the women’s final behind winner Laura Smulders (NED).

Other U.S. riders reaching the semifinal rounds were Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Daylight Cycle Co) and Jared Garcia (Victorville, Calif.) in the men’s race on Saturday.

The BMX Supercross World Cup will continue next weekend, May 13-14, with rounds 3 and 4 in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
