Cervelo and Lamborghini Team Up on a P5X Limited Edition

If the standard $11,000 P5X Dura-Ace wasn’t pricey enough for you, Cervelo recently announced a new limited edition version that we’ve heard will set you back a cool $20,000.

In collaboration with Italian automotive racing icon Lamborghini, the Canadian speed brand will be producing 25 examples of the limited edition triathlon bike. Spec’d with a full Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes and an Enve wheelset, it is the same build as the regular version.

So what do you get for the extra $9,000? Well, some color and a badge. Lamborghini provided the yellow and black paint scheme with the “y” shaped pattern that Lambo fans will recognize from the brand’s seat embroidery, wheels, and tail lights. The stealthy black Enve wheelset gets a few small touches of yellow, and the aero extensions receive the Lamborghini name as well. A special addition badge behind the seat post shows everyone where in the production run your bike was made. As with the regular P5X, the bike comes with its own travel box from Biknd, which also gets matching paint.

The triathlon only race bike features a relatively unique beam-style frame design. It’s not the first time this type of design has been used (Softride from the past, Dimond in the present, etc), but the unique, non-double diamond design that is banned by the UCI is what keeps it from being raced by your favorite pro teams.

The bike isn’t all about looks though. Cervelo’s long history in triathlon helped them develop a bike that is highly adjustable to help athletes find the right fit and ease travel, and carry everything they need with them on the bike, whether it is for training or racing. Check out the video below to see how adjustable the front end truly is. It also makes packing the bike into its travel box quick and easy, with the minimal amount of tools.

The storage aspect is something we are starting to see more and more of, with companies adding bolt-on boxes to different parts of the frame. Triathletes are self-supportive when it comes to racing, so having food, spares, and storage for extra clothing is important. With the P5X, Cervelo was able to integrate the storage above the bottom bracket and bolt on bento box behind the stem, both of which integrate into the bike’s aerodynamic design.

So if you are weighing your options to buy a new bike, or a new Volkswagon Golf, and want to know more about the limited edition P5X, Cervelo would be happy to provide you with more information by emailing them at limitededition@cervelo.com.
