Northwave goes flat with new Tribe and Clan MTB shoes

  • Ron

Northwave, in partnership with Michelin, has unveiled their first ever flat shoes in the Clan and Tribe models. The result is a flat shoe with superior tread and grip, control and stiffness as well as support and protection — everything you need for ultimate performance on a variety of terrain and conditions.

Northwave stayed true to its roots with careful analysis and technical research before releasing a flat shoe. Partnering and once again with Michelin, the result is a flat shoe with superior tread and grip, control and stiffness as well as the support and protection — everything that flat pedal riders need for ultimate performance on a variety of terrain and conditions.

Clan

The top of the line model is the Clan, utilizing the Gravity Top flat sole system developed in conjunction with Michelin. The clan uses Michelin’s Extreme Outdoor Compound, which is good for adherence on wet, slippery surfaces but with good durability. The sole includes a flat area with specific cuts for maximum grip on pedals, a rubber sidewall for arch support and the tread design extends up the toe for greater traction. The Clan also incorporates an internal TPU shank with cuts that offer calibrated stiffness.

Tribe

The Tribe joins the Sport line. It too includes a sole developed with Michelin, but instead uses Michelin’s Outdoor Compound, which is optimized for uneven terrain with a strong rubber compound for stability and good abrasion resistance. Like the Clan, the tread design extends onto the toe for greater traction, but it adds reinforced shoulders for stability, a mid-sole tread designed for flexibility and adherence, and heel reinforcements for braking.
