New Bike Day! New Scott Addict RC and Pivot Vault

  • Ron

If you’re shopping for a new bike, new releases from Scott and Pivot might satisfy your N+1 cravings!

Scott Addict RC Raises The Bar

Released just prior to the 2019 Tour de France, the new Scott Addict RC is their new benchmark road bike.

Designed to fit the needs of our UCI World Tour team Mitchelton-SCOTT and ambitious everyday riders alike, it is extremely lightweight with the best performing carbon structure to date plus completely integrated cable routing and aero features makes it a dream bike any way you look at it.

Made for Climbers

Since its introduction back in 2008, the Addict RC has been one of the most successful competitive road bikes on the market. The icing on the cake was Simon Yates’ Vuelta a Espana victory in 2018. The NEW Addict RC is as complete as it can get when it comes to the perfect high-performance road bike. Regardless of whether you’re trying to win the biggest races on the planet, chasing a virtual segment or taking on your riding buddies on your local climb, the Addict RC makes it more likely that you will come out on top.

“Since turning professional the Addict RC has been my trusty steed. I have become very comfortable on the bike in the mountains, particularly because of how lightweight it is. Now, the new version not only remains lightweight, but it’s stiffer, fully integrated, more aerodynamic and is built with disc brakes for faster braking, particularly in the rain, making it the ultimate climbing bike.” – Simon Yates, Vuelta a Espana winner 2018

Integration

Scott Sports says that the Addict RC is the first bike with completely integrated cable routing for both mechanical and electronic shifting without any compromise on performance.

From the beginning of the development process, their goal was to bring the integration of cable routing to a completely new level. Therefore they are proud that the all new Addict RC is the first bike with completely integrated cable routing for both mechanical and electronic shifting without any compromise on shifting, braking, steering performance or head tube stiffness. This is made possible by their newly patented Eccentric bicycle forks shaft design. An added feature is that our new cable routing design makes it easy for mechanics to service the bike.

All 4 cables are routed internally whether electronic or mechanical drivetrains are preferred. No cables are visible externally. Similarly the integrated magnetic stem cap means that no bolts are visible at all.

Lightweight  & Stiffness

A sophisticated layering of ultra-high modulus carbon fibers along the ‘stiffness backbone’ of the bicycle, we achieved a significant boost in bottom bracket stiffness. Furthermore, the application of our advanced molding structure which reduces the amount of bonding joints to a minimum and leaves simply not just one single bit of unintended carbon inside the frame creates an outstandingly lightweight frameset.

The complete frame set is built hollow and has a never seen clean inside to maximize the weight reduction.

The Addict RC dropouts are designed to be integrated on the thru-axle system thanks to a hollow tube design that allows a simple and lightweight structure.

Their new ultra-lightweight seat clamp weighs just 12 grams and allows for a very carbon friendly clamp mechanism. This allowed them to save even more weight on the seat post (weight: 142 grams).

Aerodynamics

On top of improved stiffness and fully integrated cable routing the new Addict RC got also more aerodynamic

SCOTT’s patented airfoil design has been applied to its main tubes (down tube, head tube, seat tube, seat post, seat stays) with the goal to optimizing the airflow and reduce the overall drag.

The lowered seat stays decrease the gap behind the seat tube and the seat stays avoiding air stagnation and consequently drag.

Integrated cable routing not only makes for a clean and premium look, but also improves the airflow in the front.

Redesigned Pivot Vault

The redesigned Pivot Vault introduces a new era of gravel speed, all-day comfort, and endless drop-bar possibilities.

Pivot Cycles introduced a redesign of the Vault – a bike where massive tire clearance, pro-caliber power transfer and ride-tuned frame compliance come together for the fastest thing to ever hit backcountry roads. Gravel, road, or cross, the all-new Vault checks all the boxes with clearance for 700x45c and 650bX47c tires, tight 420mm seatstays, compatibility with Stages and Shimano power meters, and an ultra-light race tuned Hollow Core Carbon frame. Progressive new school geometry excels on variable road surfaces, race courses, and any time a ride turns into an adventure. Tuned tube shapes and carbon layups tame the roughest roads and washboard for a stable and smooth ride mile after mile.

“When we asked our dealers what they wanted to see in the new Vault, half asked for a 27.2mm seatpost while the other half wanted dropper post compatibility,” says Pivot Cycles President and CEO, Chris Cocalis. “We not only give them both what they asked for, we did it with an innovative system that delivers extraordinary comfort with any setup. ISO FLEX allowed us to maintain pro level race stiffness and efficiency that makes this bike a gravel race weapon and a total blast to ride everywhere.”

Pivot’s innovative patent pending ISO FLEX system isolates the seatpost from the frame for the ultimate in rider comfort while maintaining race-level torsional frame stiffness. In minutes, you can swap insert sizes too. Choose 27.2mm with a tuned-flex carbon seat post design for maximum comfort or go 30.9mm for dropper post applications. The Vault’s ISO FLEX seat tube design brings comfort to unforgiving dropper seatposts – even on the roughest roads, you get to have your cake and eat it too.

The Pivot Vault is designed to take riders farther than they’ve ever dared push before, so they added top tube bag bosses to fuel the ride. Hidden fender mounts go unnoticed until they’re needed – then, the Vault morphs into a high-performance commuter or winter training bike. Not only is the front derailleur mount incredibly stiff for perfect 2x shifting, we also made it removable for 1x drivetrains, and its integrated cover virtually disappears with ultra-clean lines.

Pricing, Specifications, and Availability: The new Vault will be available in two color options—Slate Blue and Sandstorm. It is available as a frameset, and a complete bike in two configurations: The Vault Ultegra costs $5,199 USD while the Vault Force with eTap AXS retails at $6,699 USD.  The Vault is available now, in all sizes, at key Pivot Dealers worldwide.
