Moots releases new trail-focused hardtail

  • Ron

Moots introduces the Womble, a hardtail built just for lovers of single-track and adventure.

Moots was early to utilize the 29” wheel platform, and the Womble builds on that with a 29” specific geometry and ample clearance for 2.6” tires. They wanted a bike that tracked like nothing we’ve built before. The Womble boasts an all new and proprietary double butted top and down tube in the largest diameters we’ve ever built in order to create the stiffest and strongest front end possible. This gives strength to stretch the front center measurement and mate to 140mm travel fork, just to add a bit more reach.

The Womble is a 1x specific frame and available in two spec options, mechanical and wireless for SRAM AXS.  They’ve selected two builds that best compliment the Womble. The first with full wireless SRAM AXS 1×12 with wireless AXS dropper for the cleanest and most advanced mountain bike they’ve ever assembled.  The second build is with Shimano’s value/performance monster XT 8100 1×12 gruppo. Both builds are anchored with the Rock Shox Pike Ultimate 140 with 42mm offset that is simply the smoothest, stiffest and best tracking suspension they could mate the Womble to.

Moots’ passion for seeking pristine singletrack is instinctual and decades deep. It’s what keeps them going and has inspired their bikes since 1981.  They love simplicity, reliability and efficiency and simply acknowledge that riding singletrack is mastery of up and down and our twisted obsession in balancing adventure and sheer speed between point to point (YES!). We don’t know what bucket to classify it, to us it’s just mountain biking.

Behind the Name – Womble

Moots has been building bikes for almost 40 years and mountain bikes have been at the heart of what they do from the outset.  The launch of the Womble is a tribute to the kind of riding they all love at Moots.  Built as a cross country bike for both fun and long days in the saddle, we named this bike after the iconic Womble trail in Mt. Ida, Arkansas.
