Hutchinson’s Kraken is a trail-focused 29 inch tire

Hutchinson Tires has released THE KRAKEN – it’s latest addition to the XC / Trail range. The Kraken Racing Lab is the remarkable result of close collaboration between designers, engineers and XC Hutchinson athletes.

“The objective was to develop a fast, agile and reassuring tire thanks to the addition of high lateral knobs to allow maximum confidence in cornering or rough terrain,” said Alexandre Cuif, Product Manager for Hutchinson Tires. “The ultimate goal with the Kraken was also to design a tire that would not be too exclusive — just for XC athletes, but to expand its use to any mountain bike addict and trail lover.”

The architecture of the Kraken’s knobs is inspired by their Skeleton model (the ultimate tire in terms of performance). Developed in a 29 x 2.30 size, the volume of the Kraken allows the rider to lower their pressure for maximum comfort and serenity in the most chaotic parts.

The ultra-light 127 TPI, coupled with Hardskin® bead-to-bead reinforcement, ensures that the Kraken Racing Lab will meet the needs of pure performance addicts as well as XC Marathon competitors and Trail enthusiasts.

“Hutchinson has succeeded in developing a tire that adapts to all types of terrain,” said David Valero, professional XC racer, MMR Factory Racing Team. “The user will benefit from a tire that combines great durability and a very good grip. Their adaptation to new 30mm rims is remarkable. Without a doubt the new Kraken will be a tough competitor for the tires that currently lead the market.”

The Kraken adds to Hutchinson’s existing Racing Lab’s range, inaugurated last year with the Griffus: condensed from the best know-how of the brand, resulting from its work in the competitive segment and made in France.
