2020 Tour de France: Stage 5 Results

  • Ron

In Stage 5 of the 2020 Tour de France, Wout Van Aert notches another win for Jumbo Visma, while an illegal feed knocks Julian Alaphilippe out of the maillot jaune.

Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) bested Cees Bol (Sunweb), Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), and Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) at the line, making another win for Jumbo Visma after Primoz Roglic’s win yesterday in Stage 4.

Julian Alaphilippe started the day in yellow and likely would have had the jersey for another day, but he took a feed from the team car in the final 20 kilometers of the stage, earning a 20 second penalty. Adam Yates of the Mitchelton-SCOTT team is now the race leader.

Bennett’s second place finish in the sprint also knocked Peter Sagan out of the green sprinter’s jersey.

This post will be updated as more news comes in.
