Agave & Rye Ready to Welcome Guests for Cincinnati Taco Week

  • Ron

Just weeks after opening their newest location at Rookwood Exchange, Agave & Rye is ready to welcome guests for Cincinnati Taco Week, October 12 to 18.

I recently sat down with Rob Harrison, the Executive Chef of the bourbon and tequila-focused Agave & Rye, to talk about the reception at Rookwood and chain’s plans for Taco Week. Echoing the brand’s ‘Epic’ food, drinks and environment, Harrison said that business at the new Rookwood location has been, well, ‘epic’ since their September 20 opening.

Guests to the Rookwood location, and at any Agave & Rye outlet, can expect an experience that goes well beyond traditional Mexican cuisine. Harrison emphasized that his influences come from all over, as shown by some of his favorites and the selections that they’ve made for Taco Week.

Harrison’s personal favorites on the menu include “The Spaminator”, featuring Jalapeño Spam, Hawaiian-style fried rice and Sriracha, and the  “The Cali Girl” with teriyaki sauce, salmon, sushi rice and avocado.

Becky, Buda and Big Papa

For Taco Week, Agave & Rye is featuring three new Epic Tacos. The first is “The Becky,” loaded with mac & cheese, sweet & spicy bacon, agave and chili BBQ jam, tomato, crispy chicken and tobacco onions. “The Buda” starts with sticky rice and adds crispy five spice Serrano soy tofu, shiitake mushrooms, baby corn, red peppers, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, carrots, cilantro, green onion, sweet tahi chile and crispy won tons. Last but not least is “The Big Papa” with cheddar cheese grits, borracho beans, bbq pulled pork, lettuce, salsa and cowboy candy.

Beyond the Taco

For guests that want to go beyond the taco, Agave & Rye’s menu offers their “Epic Burger”, a Duck Bowl, a Luau Bowl, Irish Nachos, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, Carne Asada egg rolls, and more.

Their signature craft cocktails offer a mix of modern and traditional, from Jalapeño Pineapple Margaritas to Whiskey & Cherry Dr. Pepper Slushees; the cocktails are complemented by an extensive selection of bourbons and tequilas for the true connoisseur.

While Rookwood customers are waiting for their epic meal, they can enjoy the location’s video arcade, and they can finish out their visit with a trip to the location’s one-of-a-kind desert bar featuring ‘Nitro’ ice cream and oven-fired skillet desserts.
