SRAM brings AXS shifting to GX Eagle

  • Ron

SRAM announced today that they are bringing their flawless AXS shifting technology down the GX Eagle level.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I might be getting this group!

The All Day Drivetrain

Priced at only $55 more than a GX Eagle groupset, the $600 GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit comes with everything you need to upgrade your existing Eagle drivetrain to wireless. The upgrade kit is a whopping $400 less than the XO1/XX1 Eagle AXS upgrade kits and is ostensibly more durable than its’ pricy peers with a steel pulley cage and steel hardware as well.

Same 520% Range

The new GX Eagle AXS rear derailleur also inherits the whopping 520% range of the XO1 and XX1 line, aptly handling the XG-1275 Eagle cassette with a 52T cog.

Also making the transition to GX Eagle is SRAM’s incredibly resilient Overload Clutch design. This system allows the derailleur to sense impact and safeguard against potential damage. By quickly disengaging the motor gearbox, the derailleur has freedom to move out of harm’s way, before instantly returning to its position for a seamless experience for the rider.

The GX Eagle AXS group uses the same batteries as the rest of the AXS ecosystem, and the new derailleur even adds a battery cover that keeps the juice safe from impacts. Better yet, the new battery cover will work with existing X01 and XX1 derailleurs.

Dig into Data With AXS Web

SRAM’s AXS ecosystem becomes even more powerful with the introduction of AXS Web, a web tool designed for riders who want to better understand and improve their experience on the bike. The AXS Web dashboard is for anyone with data enabled devices — including power meters, tire pressure sensors and electronic shifting — and will collect and display ride data uploaded through Garmin and Wahoo head units.

AXS Web allows riders to analyze ride files specific to shifting, gear use, power zones and tire pressure. Ride maps are also displayed. Riders can quickly and easily learn more about how their bike is working for them and consider adjustments. Reviewing the data is as simple as pairing a rider’s AXS Web account to their head unit account and uploading the files. AXS Web also sends relevant system push notifications, including low battery warnings, to the rider’s smartphone.
