Miche DEVA RD Most Aerodynamic and Lightweight Miche Wheels Yet

“Deva” is a Sanskrit word meaning “shining one” — a word that embodies harmony, balance, and the bond that connects sky and matter.

For the Miche Deva RD, this vision takes concrete shape: carbon is moulded into essential profiles, giving life to Miche’s most aerodynamic and lightweight wheel yet, and the first with carbon spokes.

Deva RD is the ultimate expression of the Miche Formula, a method combining engineering, data analysis and outstanding cycling expertise. The project includes 28 CFD simulations, wind tunnel tests and dedicated prototypes developed in collaboration with the , with a single goal: to turn numbers and measurements into a tangible advantage.

Miche Deva RD

Deva RD stems from a development journey built on thirty years of experience and the analysis of the finest Miche . It is our first wheel featuring carbon spokes, designed to exceed the highest standards of performance, efficiency and reliability.

Deva RD was developed according to the Miche Formula — an engineering protocol that integrates instrumented measurements, high-resolution CFD simulations, and dedicated wind tunnel sessions to validate every design choice
This approach is driven by targeted work on aerodynamics and material behaviour, with a single objective: to create the fastest and lightest Miche wheel yet.

The Formula for Performance

4 preliminary designs and 2 different NACA profiles were tested on the 52 mm front wheel, and 28 CFD simulations were carried out by the Tech Centre of the Groupama– Cycling Team. In addition, 24 hours of wind tunnel testing was performed across 3 dedicated sessions, testing two spoke -sections, and two full-aluminium rim shape prototypes to test aerodynamic performance and verify rim–tyre integration under real-world conditions. A rigorous process of design, engineering, testing, and on- validation, driven by a single mission: to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve efficiency, rolling performance, stiffness-to-weight ratio, and overall reliability.

Rim: A Renewed Design

The idea behind the Deva RD rims is to deliver optimal aerodydamic efficiency, stiffness and weight. The T700/T800/T1000 carbon structure with a matte UD finish and a 23 mm tubeless-ready internal  rim width delivers a smooth, stable and comfortable interface, while the hook ensures maximum safety. The two differentiated-profile configurations — 52 mm (front 52×33 mm, rear 52×31 mm) and 62 mm (front 62×31 mm, rear 62×30 mm) — are engineered to combine control, smoothness and
aerodynamic performance. The wider front profiles minimise airflow resistance, while the slimmer rear profiles deliver the optimal trade-off between weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency, enhancing performance in all riding conditions. The result is a responsive, stiff and exceptionally precise rim.

Vonoa® Carbon Spoke System

For the first time in its history, Miche has adopted carbon spokes — a technological step that  elevates the wheel to a new level of lightness and stiffness. Their aerodynamic geometry, with a 4×1 mm cross-section profile, works in seamless continuity with
the rim due to the hidden nipples integrated directly into the rim itself. The elimination of exposed elements reduces turbulence in this area and helps optimise overall drag.

The 14+7 spoke configuration on both the front and rear wheels, combined with the reduction in total spoke count from 24 to 21, delivers an ideal balance of weight, responsiveness, control, and steering precision. This was made possible by the exceptional stiffness of the carbon spokes, especially when considered in relation to their weight. All of this results in lower rotating mass, greater stability under lateral loads, and a more natural response to changes in pace.

The outcome is a spoke system that not only makes the wheel faster, but also enhances the sensation of smoothness and immediacy with every pedal stroke.

The Center of Performance

The Deva RD hubs are designed and machined on high-precision CNC machines, from solid Ergal 7075 T6 billet. The design is defined to integrate seamlessly with carbon fibre spokes, ensuring stiffness and aerodynamic continuity.

The front wheel features a flange geometry with an increased camber angle to enhance lateral stiffness and improve steering precision. At the rear, the combination of Ergal and titanium optimises the weight-to-strength ratio, while the freehub body — which is lightened in the Shimano HG version — ensures efficient transfer.

Miche’s Aeroblade , 3D-printed in carbon-filled resin, stabilises spoke alignment and protects the system from contaminants. Micrometric adjustment allows precise preload tuning, delivering optimal smoothness in all conditions.

Bearings

In collaboration with CeramicSpeed, Miche has adopted double-sealed ceramic bearings, optimising every parameter that influences rolling performance — from seal quality to balls and tracks, through to manufacturing consistency, tolerances and lubricant characteristics (content and viscosity).

Since the of a bearing depends on numerous factors — seals, balls, races, cages, and manufacturing precision — we worked with one of the leading manufacturers in the sector to monitor every variable and achieve the best possible solution in terms of smoothness, efficiency and durability.

Finally, the adjustment locknut on the rear hub allows fine tuning of the hub, ensuring long-term precision and peak performance over time.

Aerodynamics

Deva RD was born with a clear and uncompromising goal: to place aerodynamics at the centre of every design decision. Every surface, proportion and technical solution was conceived to minimise the product’s total drag.

CFD analyses made it possible to evaluate airflow stability and efficiency around the wheel under real-world conditions. The results were then validated in the GST-Windkanal, confirming the best profiles and refining their shape to ensure stability and aerodynamic performance across different yaw angles.

World Tour Certification

Collaboration with the Groupama–FDJ Cycling Team was one of the most decisive stages in the Deva RD project. For the first time, we were able to rely on the direct experience of a World Tour structure throughout the entire development process: from feedback on the first complete wheel prototypes to insights into material behaviour and advanced aerodynamic analysis. The contribution of their engineers and athletes allowed every design choice to be put to the test, accelerating development and guiding the project towards solutions that are truly effective in a racing context. This continuous exchange between laboratory and competition has allowd Deva RD to reach an unprecedented level of maturity and speed for a Miche wheel.

The new DEVA RD wheels will be available through Miche’s network of authorized dealers starting in March 2026. Retail price: €3,200 (VAT included).
