Cycling apparel brand Q36.5 has introduced a totally new product: The Adventure Racing Hydration Skinsuit.
Debuted by the Q36.5 Women’s Off-Road Racing Expedition team at the TRAKA, the Adventure Racing Hydration Skinsuit is a new concept developed for the demands of long-distance gravel racing, where efficiency, thermoregulation, and self-sufficiency all play an equal role.
Built on the foundation of the brand’s Dottore Pro skinsuit, originally developed for the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, this new suit adapts proven road racing technologies to the more demanding conditions of gravel. The suit combines aerodynamic efficiency with extended comfort, integrating Dottore Pro woven leg panels alongside a body-mapped, multi-fabric upper engineered to balance airflow and performance over long efforts.
At the centre of the concept is a proprietary, integrated hydration system, designed to carry up to 2 litres of fluid without disrupting fit or stability. Unlike traditional solutions, the system is built directly into the garment, reducing movement and maintaining consistent contact with the body, even across rough terrain.
Developed Through Racing
The Adventure Racing Hydration Skinsuit is the result of ongoing research across disciplines, mirroring Q36.5’s wider approach to product development and testing in high-performance environments.
Founder of Q36.5 Luigi Bergamo explains:
“The development of the Adventure Racing Hydration Skinsuit began in the summer of 2025 as we finalised the Dottore Clima skinsuit prototype for the Q36.5 Pro Cycling riders racing at the Vuelta. At this time, we felt that we had made important advances in the development of our skinsuits from 2024, thanks to the successful integration of Dottore Pro woven leg panels into the design and the use of a body-mapped ultralight 3-fabric engineering for the top part, achieving the best compromise between aerodynamics and thermoregulation both in laboratory testing and also on-bike feedback from the riders. This evolution gave us the confidence to look to redevelop our skinsuits for elite athletes in other disciplines (triathlon and gravel).
In particular, we were excited to develop a gravel skinsuit not just because of the ‘challenge’ of developing a stable and functional hydration system that didn’t compromise thermoregulation, but also because the spirit of gravel racers is much more open and willing to experiment than with Professional road cyclists, making the R&D process faster and more exciting!”
Developed in Real Time
The Adventure Racing Hydration Skinsuit remains in the development phase, with ongoing testing playing a key role in refining the concept. Riders at Traka are currently using second-generation prototypes, building on earlier versions that were tested by Q36.5 team members at Cape Epic.
This iterative approach reflects Q36.5’s commitment to developing products in real-world conditions. With a planned release in early 2027, the skinsuit will continue to evolve through feedback gathered from testing, rider feedback and competition.
Luigi Bergamo:
“We are still very much in the R&D process, but the TRAKA seemed the most critical moment of the season in which to offer our riders superior tools.”
