2026 Giro d’Italia: Stage 10 Results

  • Ron

Filippo Ganna (Netcompany Ineos) has won stage 10 of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, the 42 km long Viareggio-Massa Tudor ITT, ahead of Thymen Arensman (Netcompany Ineos) and Remi Cavagna (Groupama-FDJ United).

The longest individual trial in the Giro d’Italia since 2015 was to the taste of as the 42km long stage didn’t any climbs. The Italian star posted one of his best performances in order to honour his speciality. In the fight for GC positions, Afonso Eulalio defended himself better than he expected. He maintained his lead by 27” as runner up Jonas Vingegaard scored the 23th best time, 1’6” down on Thymen Arensman but 1’22” faster than Felix Gall who appeared like his main challenger in the stages.

Eulalio () retains the Maglia Rosa as he leads the General Classification.

Speaking in the press conference, the Filippo Ganna said: “This was a very long TT, it wasn’t easy to manage the distance but we were close to the rhythm we planned. There’s still a margin to do slightly better. There wasn’t much time to use the time trial bike after the classics. So we’ve preferred not to take risks and we’ll see how this Giro ends up. This morning I woke up at 5am, the adrenaline was high, I was a bit anxious too. I wouldn’t mind to win my home stage in Verbania on Friday too. Let’s see if the bunch lets me go or if we’ll arrive all together. In the stages that suit Thymen Arensman, I’ll work for him but in some climbs there’s not much I can do. We’re eight riders in the team, when I’ll be able to play my cards I’ll do it, like in 2020 when we won a couple of stages and the GC as well”.

2026 Giro d’Italia: Stage 10 Brief Results

  1. Filippo Ganna (Netcompany Ineos) – 42 km in 45’53”, av. speed 54.921 km/h
  2. Thymen Arensman (Netcompany Ineos) at 1’54”
  3. Remi Cavagna (Groupama-FDJ United) at 1’59”

The Maglia Rosa Afonso Eulalio said: “I didn’t expect to be here at the press conference today. It’s a nice surprise to retain the Maglia Rosa. Before the race, I joked with my girlfriend [a former Portuguese for ITT] but I think it’s the Maglia Rosa that gave me some extra power, like in the past few stages. I think it’s the first time I was nervous before a race. This year, we worked a lot on time trialling and it paid off today. My sport directors asked me if I wanted to go for GC or for stages. What I’m living with the Maglia Rosa is beautiful, so I prefer to continue fighting for GC. If I have a bad day, I’ll reconsider but I want to enjoy more of this moment. It’s unbelievable”.

General Classification After Stage 10

  1. Afonso Eulalio (Bahrain Victorious)
  2. Jonas Vingegaard (Team | Lease a Bike) at 27″
  3. Thymen Arensman (Netcompany Ineos) at 1’57”

The Maglia Azzurra Jonas Vingegaard said: “I quite ok on the bike today. It wasn’t the best time trial course for me but I’m happy with the time I got and where I am on GC now. I’m happy with taking a bit of time on Felix Gall. I lost a bit of time on Thymen Arensman but I’m in a good place at the moment. I would have loved to take the Maglia Rosa. Every day in a leader’s jersey is special. It might be a bit of an advantage to not have it in the next few days but if I had it, I wouldn’t have complained”.
