Cannondale Pro Cycling signs four young talents for 2014

Cannondale Pro Cycling looks to the future and announces the signing of four young talents: Slovenian and Junior World Champion Matej Mohoric, Italians Davide Villella, Alberto Bettiol and Davide Formolo. The athletes signed two years contract with the team and, except Villella who will debut as stagiaire next week at the USA Pro Challenge, they will debut with the jersey of Cannondale Pro Cycling in 2014.

“We signed four of the most promising riders” said Roberto Amadio, team manager of Cannondale Pro Cycling “and we’re really satisfied about. Young riders were always been our priority, even more if they have the potential to become really good riders. We have the know-how to help and to raise them: this was one of the decisive reason to scoop the competition of other teams. They will be integrated in a harmonious group, first of all to gain experience. We won’t ask them victories of results. Of course, if they were able to stand out immediately, we’ll know how to support and to protect them”.

Slovenian Matej Mohoric (born on October 19, 1994) became Junior World Champion last year in Limburg. In the same edition, he placed second in the Junior TT race. In 2012 he also won the Giro della Lunigiana and the Giro della Basilicata. In the 2013, with UCI Continental Team Sava, took the fourth place in the Elite National Championship, both in road race and time trial race.

Davide Villella (born in Magenta, Milan, on June 27, 1991) has just won the Giro della Valle d’Aosta (as well as two stages) and took 16 wins during the last three years in U23 category with Italian team Colpack. He took also the silver medal in 2013 Italian road race Championship.

Alberto Bettiol (born in Poggibonsi, Siena, on October 29, 1993) collected six wins in U23 category and four in 2014 with Italian GS Mastromarco. In 2013 he was third in U23 Italian road race Championship and in GP Liberazione, while took the 10th place at the U23 Tour of Flanders. In 2011 he won the Junior European Championship, time trial race.

Davide Formolo (born in Negrar, Verona, on October 25, 1992) will become professional after three season with Italian team Petroli Firenze. He won four races as U23, among which the Giro delle Pesche Nettarine in 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he also placed fourth in U23 Italian road race Championship (in 2012 he was second) and second at the Giro della Valle d’Aosta.
